The visionary founder of the Company, Khawaja Salim Akhtar (Late), laid the foundation of the business in 1966 in Dhaka, East Pakistan, with the establishment of a modest yet ambitious manufacturing unit specializing in Polyethylene Plastic Bags and Sheets. Despite limited resources during its early years, the founder's determination, entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to excellence quickly earned the company a reputation for consistency, reliability and superior manufacturing standards. His strong leadership and industrial foresight became the driving force behind the company's future growth and success.
Following the historical events of 1971, the company relocated its operations to Karachi, Pakistan, where it courageously restarted its industrial journey under the name of "SALIM PLASTIC INDUSTRY." This transition marked not only a geographical shift but also the beginning of a new era of resilience, determination and industrial expansion.
Through perseverance, technical expertise and unwavering dedication, the company successfully rebuilt its operations and strengthened its position within Pakistan's developing plastic and packaging industry. Over time, the organization earned the trust of numerous industrial and commercial clients by maintaining consistent quality standards and reliable customer service.
Driven by continuous growth and increasing market demand, the management envisioned expanding the business into a larger and more technologically advanced manufacturing setup. As a result, in the year 2000, a major industrial unit was established in Lahore, Pakistan - strategically positioned to better serve the rapidly expanding textile, garment and export sectors of the country.
This milestone represented a significant leap forward in the company's industrial capabilities, production capacity and long-term strategic vision. With a highly qualified management team, experienced technical staff and a professionally trained workforce, the company continued to strengthen its operational excellence and manufacturing standards.
Recognizing the need to meet growing international quality expectations and rising customer demand, the company further expanded its infrastructure in 2004 by acquiring an extensive 72,000 square feet industrial facility equipped with enhanced working capital, modern machinery and advanced production technologies.
What began as a small manufacturing initiative had now evolved into a strong and flourishing industrial enterprise - truly reflecting the journey where "the seed has now become a fruitful tree."

In the early years, the main customers of "SICO" were exporters of garments. Today, "SICO" is the market leader, catering to almost 70–85% of the garment industry requirements for plastic bags in Pakistan.

We know what machinery and makes will be suitable to improve our standard of productions. We have installed many state-of-the-art Taiwan-made Plastic tube extruders which have a capacity of about 500 Tons.
Equipped with ultra-modern machinery, we utilize Taiwan-made computerized Flexographic printing machines and Italian-made printing machines to meet high quality international standards.
Our production unit features fully automatic computerized bag-making machines with 0% size variation facilities available. Most of our bag-making machines are imported from Germany.
Equipped with a dedicated workshop and tool room to maintain machinery quality and ensure short-time refurbishment, ensuring our production never misses a commitment.
Global excellence is part of SICO achievement. Our active role involves continuous research to find more attractive and economical ways of development, production, and marketing.
When Raw material is received, our lab technicians test it with chemical and physical tests to ensure specific density or chemical base requirements are met.

Using 100% food grade material, our quality standards meet the World Health Organization (WHO) standards. Products are made with BHT, Toxic, and harmful-free materials.
We offer biodegradable products tested by independent and Govt. Controlled Laboratories in accordance with ASTM and ISO standards.
